Creative Math & Computer Science Program
My Oxbridge Math is an original and unique creative Math program for children from 5 to 11 years old. It is designed to help children to understand and apply basic math concepts, develop intelligence and logic, think creatively and improve discipline and leadership skills.
Upon completion of primary school, children will be able to demonstrate a higher level of knowledge in the subject compared to the children of the same age.
The main goal of My Oxbridge Math program is to enable students to experience the beauty of Math and see it as a subject that will help them in the future to implement their intellectual capabilities and ideas.
The main differences between My Oxbridge Math and traditional Math programs for primary schools are:
1. Our program is personalised and contains different levels of complexity - from the easiest to the most difficult.
Each assignment covers a specific mathematical aspect, for example arithmetic, geometry, etc. The program is divided into weeks, each week has 5 lessons, 4 of which are topic-based lessons and one is computer science (algorithmics). Each program lesson ends with a so-called personal task, which is covered by material during the lesson but is more complex in level.
2. Each arithmetic topic evolves from topics which has been already covered.
Our program actively uses the concept of selection - a very important stage allowing the child not only to guess some techniques or facts, but to let them make their own small discovery in Math. Each lesson has at least one task that uses or hints at some interesting method of counting, arithmetic operations, etc. The times table is given in a completely unconventional way. It is explored and “lived through”. The methods and techniques of multiplication and division are studied in great detail.
3. Each lesson involves not only traditional Math topics
(traditional calculations of mixed quantities, etc.) but also tasks on time intervals using a timeline, assessing possible values of real quantities, working with tables, diagrams and other visual sources of information, etc.
4. Almost all assignments
for Year 1 to Year 3 are small texts from which children learn to obtain and use information. In Year 4, all assignments and examples used are taken from real life.
5. The program contains a lot of tasks on “experimental” geometry.
Many facts are discovered through the geometric experiments ahead of been proven in Senior school.
6. This program includes a huge number of assignments for teamwork.
These are “multi-step problems”. Each member of the team contributes to the solution.
7. In the Year 4 program
all traditional topics are taken to the next level, from just standard methods of monotonic calculations to real advanced topics for high school: divisibility, multiples, Leonhard Euler's circles, simplified Euclidean algorithm in one step, etc.
8. Our educational kit is completely independent.
Everything is discussed and analyzed in great detail and from different angles. All concepts are introduced, all definitions are given, the formulations are all precise and understandable and written in mathematical language, accessible to a primary school student.
